Purpose
The intent of this statement is to provide guidelines for use of Queensborough Community College facilities and services for non-credit activities consistent with the purposes, policies, and mission of the City University of New York: teaching, research, student life and public service.
For non-credit use of facilities, Queensborough Community College will ordinarily charge non-College organizations a Facilities Rental fee and other associated costs designed to cover the extra costs of services provided by the College for such events held in College facilities or on College grounds. Examples of such costs include but are not limited to office expenses, maintenance and repair, food service, equipment replacement, damages, Public Safety, parking services, and any extraordinary administrative charges.
Generally, no facility charges will be made to Queensborough Community College departments, offices or authorized student activities for use of facilities. Charges may, however, be levied when such activities generate additional costs such as Public Safety.
Policy
Use of Queensborough Community College facilities is intended primarily for official College departments and officially recognized faculty, staff, and student groups conducting programs consistent with the College mission and objectives. However, to further its commitment to education and public service, Queensborough Community College supports the use of College facilities by non-College organizations where such use does not infringe upon, compete, delay or conflict with the normal operation of the College. All rentals of any room, space, athletic facility, or grounds will be coordinated and recorded by the Auxiliary Business Development Office and are subject to the approval of the Vice President for Finance & Administration. Likewise, all reservations of any room, space, athletic facility, or grounds by College Departments will be subject to the same process and approvals as rentals. No College Facility may be utilized at any time by an outside organization without compliance with this policy.
Non-Discrimination Clause
There shall be no discriminatory practices in connection with any event because of race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or sexual preference.
Indemnification
It shall be understood and agreed to by a requesting individual or organization that said individual or organization shall be solely responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, rules, orders, regulations, codes, and requirements of federal, state and local governments. In addition, the individual or organization shall indemnify and hold harmless the City University of New York, the State of New York, the City of New York and Queensborough Community College from and against any damage, fine, judgment, expense or charge suffered, imposed, assessed or incurred for any violation or occasion by any act, neglect, or omission of the organization, its servants, employees, or agents. In the event of any damage or injury to the equipment or facilities provided by the College under these guidelines caused by the negligence or improper conduct of the individual or organization, its agents or employees, the individual or organization shall cause the said damage or injury to be repaired or remedied as speedily as possible at its own cost and expense. Notwithstanding the above, if any loss is the result of negligence on the part of the College, the individual or organization shall be released of its responsibility for replacement of lost or damaged equipment or facilities.
