What We Are About
The Queensborough Community College Black Male Initiative (BMI) is focused on increasing enrollment and support services for African American males and other underrepresented groups. All BMI programs and activities are open to all Queensborough students, faculty and staff, without regard to race, gender, national origin and other characteristics. The Black Male Initiative (BMI) at Queensborough Community College is designed to provide a network of support to help foster confidence, belonging and success not only at QCC but in life. Our mission is to provide our members with a viable foundation for achieving academic, professional and personal success through community. We are committed to not only providing each of our members with a meaningful higher education experience but also enabling individual growth to produce well rounded individuals who will contribute to our communities around the world and to our society at large.

What We Offer

Mentoring
Our mentoring program consists of peer mentors, alumni mentors and professional mentors both on campus and off campus. Student mentors may apply for our 3 credit mentoring program. -
Internships
Through our partnerships, we help you find an internship that helps you achieve your career goals. -
Library
Our office has a library of textbooks and computers that students are welcome to come and utilize. -
Peer Tutoring
We can connect you to supplemental tutoring with peers. Schedule a tutoring session today! -
Scholarships/Internships
Come in and find out about scholarship opportunities. Receive assistance in finding the scholarships best suited for you! And much more!
BMI Club & Leadership
Club activities will be coordinated with Student Government and provide opportunities for leadership. For those looking to be a part of Queensborough Community College in more ways than the average student, the club scene is a great start! Many of our students who started as club officers moved upward to the Student Government Association (S.G.A.)
