Biography:

Dr. Elaine Friedman has taught public speaking and remedial speech at Queensborough Community College for the last six years as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.  Simultaneously, she was Executive Director of the Mt. St. Ursula Speech Center in the Bronx, N.Y. where she supervised Speech Pathologists and was involved with therapeutic interventions with speech handicapped children and adolescents for thirteen years. Since August, 2014 she has been a full time substitute lecturer at QCC.. In the past, she has held supervisory and teaching positions in various areas of speech at Adelphi University, Columbia University, New York University, and the College of New Rochelle.  She received a B.A. degree from Queens College, an M.S. degree from Columbia University, and a D.D.S. degree from New York University.  In addition, she received an Advanced Professional Certificate in Medical Management from New York University.  As a lecturer, she has spoken to dentists and speech pathologists about speech problems that are prevalent in children and adults.  She has also worked on accent reduction with health professionals and with ESL individuals in a private practice and in hospital settings.

She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from ASHA, the N.Y.S. License in Speech Pathology, the N.Y.S. License as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped, and the N.Y.S. License to Practice Dentistry.  She was recently granted a second award for Continuing Education (ACE) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for " her personal effort to continue professional learning beyond her academic degrees."
