Eileen White is an award-winning filmmaker whose films and videos have been exhibited at numerous festivals. She has worked on other films in such capacities as producer, props, location sound, assistant sound editor, and camera and editorial work. Professor White teaches film theory, production, and history at Queensborough and is currently working on a film about gentrification and the closing of AB Studios, a beloved metal/hardcore music venue in Rockway Beach, Queens. Also a photographer, her photographs have been published in Time Out, Crain's NY Business, and The Huffington Post, as well as exhibited by the Rockway Times in conjunction with NYC Parks Department on the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk. Her research includes fan culture (The Libertines and the Legacy of The Likely Lads: Arcadian Dreams in Tabloid Hell), the ethics and implications of visual effects (Now You See It: Computer Generated Reality in 'Boardwalk Empire), and more recently, the cultural shifts in attitudes on race, gender, and sexual orientation and the effects on how we perceive and teach early film history (Your Fave is Problematic: Teaching Early Film in the Now). She regularly presents at the University Film and Video Conference, the National, Mid-Atlantic, Southwest Texas American/Popular Culture Association conferences, and the London Film and Media Conference. Additional research focus includes media production pedagogy. Currently, she is working on a practitioner's resource text for Oxford University Press on best practices in media education. Grants received include PSC-CUNY Research grants, CUNY Continuing Education & Workforce Development Grant (Media Arts and Technology in the Workforce), and the William P. Kelly Research Fellowship.​
