Faculty Biography - Cary Lane, Ph.D., M.F.A.
Cary Lane has been teaching in the Department of Academic Literacy at Queensborough Community College since 2010. He received his M.F.A. in art theory and practice from Northwestern University in 1996 and his Ph.D. in postsecondary and adult education at Capella University in 2015.
One of Lane’s main research interests is examining how image-based instruction affects text-based learning at the postsecondary level. He has engaged in several service-learning and pedagogical research projects which have implemented image-based, high-impact pedagogies, including the 2014-2015 NEH Challenge Grant.
Prior to his work at QCC, Lane taught painting, drawing and communication skills and John Jay College of Criminal Justice – and still teaches forensic drawing there once a year.
