Gilmar Visoni-Alonzo, Ph.D., Chair
Dr. Gilmar E. Visoni was born in Guatemala de la Asunción, Guatemala. He received his elementary and secondary education from the Salesian priests. He left his native country in the middle of the civil war, and settled in New York City where he attended Queens College, CUNY in pursuit of his Bachelor's degree. Dr. Visoni received his M.A. and Phd in History from Fordham University. His graduate field of study was Renaissance Intellectual History, and he wrote his dissertation on the historiographical discursive structures in the Italian works of Giordano Bruno.
Dr. Visoni became a member of the Queensborough History Department in 1996. During this time he was taught and developed courses in Renaissance history, Military history and Latin American History. He has been the Chairman of the department since 2006.
