Sarah K. Danielsson is Professor of History. She received her BA in History and Philosophy from City College (2000) and her PhD in History from the University of Minnesota (2005). She also teaches at the CUNY Graduate Center.
Sarah Danielsson is also the Executive Director for the CUNY Academy for the Humanities and Sciences.
Her research and teaching interests include, modern European intellectual history, history of nationalism and nation-states, history of genocide and human rights, history of geography/historical geography, modern central European history, trans-national history, history of ideas.
She is an Associate Editor of Journal of Genocide Research, an international peer-reviewed journal published by Taylor and Francis, Oxford. She is also a member of the International Advisory Board of Global Humanities, an international peer-reviewed journal, and a series editor of War (Hi)stories at Ferdinand Schöningh (Brill).
Professor Danielsson helped bring a National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant to the Queensborough Holocaust Center ($500,000 grant), and during the 2012-2013 Academic Year she directed the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) funded seminar series, entitled "Genocide, Justice and Human Rights." ($50,000 grant). She is also a recipeint of numerous PSC-CUNY research grants (ranging between $3500-$6000) and a DAAD grant.
Professor Danielsson is a member of the International Network of Genocide Scholars (INoGS), German Studies Association (GSA), American Historical Association (AHA), Society for French Historical Studies (SFHS). She is also a co-chair of the Columbia University Faculty Seminar on Law and Politics, and a member of the New York Area Seminar in Intellectual and Cultural History.
