Course, prefix, number, & title: MUS-168, 169, 268, 269 Individual Study in Music Performance: Saxophone I, II, III, IV

Hours (Class, recitation, Laboratory, studio): 0.5 or 1 class hour, Students are required to take 1 credit, 0.5 class hour for the A.S., Music degree. Students have the option of taking 2 credits, 1 class hour; offered as needed

Credits: 1 or 2 credits offered as needed

Pre-requisites (if any): Grade of C or better required in course level I to advance to level II, in II to advance to III, in III to advance to IV.

Co-requisites (if any): MUS-186, 187, 286, 287

Course Description in college catalog:

One half hour or one hour of weekly private instruction in saxophone for A.S., Music degree students. Final examination will consist of a performance jury.

Prepare students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning to pursue a career in music by providing a solid foundation in the areas of musicianship and performance.

Methods by which student learning will be assessed and evaluated; describe the types of methods to be employed; note whether certain methods are required for all sections:

Students will be evaluated through graded assignments including in-class quizzes, weekly take-home assignments, cumulative midterm and final exams, and a mandatory concert attendance and concert summary assignment. The grade breakdown is as follows:

Weekly Lessons: 50%

Jury Examination: 50%
