Come Fly with New York Legends Billy Stritch and Jim Caruso in The Sinatra Century at QPAC on April 10
Two of New York City’s multi-award winning, internationally-acclaimed performers, Billy Stritch and Jim Caruso, will celebrate the historic centennial of Frank Sinatra’s legacy in The Sinatra Century at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC) on Sunday, April 10 at 8:00p.m.
Backed by the incredibly talented Diva Jazz Orchestra, the unique vocal and musical stylings of Stritch and Caruso will provide for a memorable afternoon of classic Sinatra songs such as Come Fly with Me, The Best is yet to Come; In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning; Love is the Tender Trap, Witchcraft, and many more.
Jim Caruso made his Broadway debut alongside Liza Minnelli in the Tony Award-winning smash hit Liza's At The Palace, singing, dancing and celebrating the music and arrangements of the late, great Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. He sang with the New York Pops in an all-star tribute to Kander & Ebb at Carnegie Hall, and returned to "The Hall" in a tribute to Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, hosted by Michael Feinstein.
Billy Stritch is one of the premier singer-pianists on the New York and national jazz and cabaret scene. He has appeared in cabaret venues across the nation, as well as concert performances. In New York, he has performed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and was on stage in the 2001 Broadway revival of 42nd Street starring Christine Ebersole. Billy Stritch is also a songwriter and arranger, and his composition "Does He Love You" was recorded by Reba McEntire and Linda Davis.
The Diva Jazz Orchestra is a hard-charging and powerful ensemble of 15 extremely talented and versatile musicians who just happen to be women. Headed by swinging drummer Sherrie Maricle, DIVA exudes the excitement and force found in the tradition of the historic big bands but with an eye towards today’s progressive sound of originality and verve. With New York as their home base, DIVA performs all over the world playing contemporary, mainstream big band jazz composed and arranged to fit the individual personalities and styles of the musicians themselves.
