How Doing an English Honors Project Helped Me Grow as a Scholar

Working on my Honors project for my English 102 class was such a great experience. I am grateful that Professor Dennihy told me about it. Doing the project was not an easy process; I faced many difficulties trying to complete it. What I found most challenging was juggling my regular school work and trying to stick to the deadlines I made for myself for the project. This project has taught me what it means to be an Honors student. It means to be dedicated, to have discipline, to have good time management skills, and to multitask. It also helped me learn how to conduct a proper research paper. I got the opportunity to learn more about my topic of interest, insight into the struggles of African American women during the Civil Rights Movement. Researching this topic made me appreciate the exertions that African American women made for me and all women in America to have the privileges that we have today. Completing this project has made me grow not only as a scholar but as a young African American woman. I recommend doing an Honors project; it is challenging but worth it.
