Queensborough Students Return Triumphant from the 26th Annual CSTEP Statewide Student Conference
STEM students Shanelle Smith and Oscar Bermudes won first place for their oral presentations in the categories of nanotechnology and environmental and earth science, at the Annual Collegiate Science Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) Conference in April.
The event, which took place at The Sagamore on Lake George, hosted more than 600 students and staff from 50 different CSTEP institutions. There were approximately 120 student presenters. Three out of the six presenters from Queensborough won awards.
The CSTEP Annual Statewide Conference is designed to foster talented students’ academic success in preparing for professional licensure or careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or the licensed professions.
“I congratulate our students and their mentors on this outstanding success. Their dedication, hard work and enthusiasm inspire other students to pursue STEM research,” said Marie-Francesca Berrouët, Director, CSTEP Program.
