Queensborough Professor is the only Community College Person out of 51 Recipients to be Named an ACS Fellow
Dr. Paris D. Svoronos, Professor in the department of Chemistry at Queensborough Community College, has been named a fellow by the National American Chemistry College (ACS) for his outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society. Dr. Svoronos is the first chemistry professor at Queensborough to receive this award, and is the only community college person nationwide this year out of 51 recipients.
"This is a unique honor bestowed by the National American Chemical Society. I am glad that Queensborough, our students and the constructive work of our faculty is being recognized nationwide. I hope that more such awards are coming our college's way."
This was the most selective ACS fellow process in history as only 51 members were selected when past averages numbered more than 100 every year. Only half a dozen community college faculty and high school teachers have been bestowed this honor out of a total of 1050 awardees since the inception of this process more than ten years ago.
