The Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Queensborough Community College (QCC) will offer two free online Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certification training courses to help participants enhance and learn new skills and prepare for two highly sought-after certifications in today’s Cloud computing field.

These training programs have been developed at QCC/CUNY with funding provided by a federal grant under the Carl D. Perkins Act. The training will be provided at no cost to students that register.

AWS is recognized by far as the global leader within the world of Cloud computing, and employees who obtain its Certifications are in increasing demand within the industry.

The AWS Developer Associate Certification (+ AWS Big Data + Machine Learning Specializations) course will run from March 14 through May- 9,

The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate Certification course will be run from May 11 through June 29.

Both programs are instructor-led and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-4 pm.

As an added incentive, students are not bound by specific class times. All sessions will be recorded and can be accessed and reviewed at times that are convenient for the student.

Prospective students should register for both courses, as they are interconnected.

Prospective students can ask questions and learn more about these courses at a virtual information session. Three information sessions which will answer all questions about the programs will be held on February 24, March 1, and March 9 at 1 pm.

“AWS is the fastest pace of innovation!” said Dr. Hui-Yin Hsu, Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at QCC. “The impact of cloud computing has morphed from an intriguing technological option to an essential element of digital transformation. Students will learn to develop strategies for optimizing containers and serverless computing, the two emerging trends that will exert a major impact on cloud computing. Our students will be leading the future workforce.”

“Industry experts, including LinkedIn, Forbes and CIO magazines, maintain that an understanding of Cloud computing is one of the top skills that any business or technology professional can have today,” said Michael Lawrence, QCC Engineering Technology specialist and lecturer.

While students do not have to have prior experience to take part in the AWS Certification training, they should have an interest in learning about Cloud computing and cybersecurity.

Preferred computer requirements include a PC or Mac; 8GB Ram; Intel i3 Processor; 100GB hard drive; and high-speed Internet.
