- Queensborough Community College Nursing Clinical students in NU-101, Safe and Effective Care of Client Level I, may apply for the Dual/Joint Degree Program in Nursing with Hunter College. Admission to the program is extremely competitive and will be based on the student's GPA and overall academic work. While enrolled in NU-101 students should plan to attend the BSN Workshop and speak to their faculty person for additional information regarding the application process for this Dual/Joint Degree Program.
- A student must receive a faculty recommendation indicating a strong clinical performance in NU-101.
- In addition to the courses required for the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, students will be encouraged to complete additional liberal arts, science, and humanities courses that can be applied to the BS degree.
- Prerequisites require a minimum grade of "C" or its equivalent and may not be taken on a Credit/No Credit basis.
- An advisor will guide students in the selection of these courses to maximize courses that meet the CUNY Pathways/Hunter Core Requirement as well as other degree requirements for Hunter College and Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, thereby avoiding potential repetition of requirements.
- QCC nursing students who are not a part of the Dual/Joint RN to BS Degree Program must receive a "B" or better grade in NU-204 to waive the course at HBSON and in lieu will take NURS 343.
- Anatomy and Physiology I and II must be taken at the same institution.
- Minimum credits earned at QCC accepted by Hunter College: 65.
- Maximum credits earned at QCC accepted by Hunter College: 77.5.
- Total credits required for the AAS/BS Dual/Joint Degree: 120.
- The School of Nursing is located on the Brookdale Campus at East 25th Street and First Avenue adjacent to the VA Hospital, Bellevue Hospital and NYU Medical Center.
- Students must submit proof of graduation from the QCC Nursing program prior to beginning coursework. The licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) must be completed and proof of passing the exam must be submitted to the School of Nursing by the end of the first semester or a student will be unable to progress in the program.
- Due to a federal restriction against issuing F-1 student visas for international students in online programs, students applying to this program must provide documentation of one of the following categories: (1) U.S. Citizenship, (2) Permanent Residency or (3) Granted asylum, refugee status, temporary protected status, withholding of removal, deferred enforced departure, or deferred action status by the U.S. Government.
