- Queensborough Community College Nursing Clinical students in NU-101, Safe and Effective Care of Client Level I, may apply for the Dual/Joint Degree Program in Nursing with the School of Professional Studies. Admission to the program is extremely competitive and will be based on the student's GPA and overall academic work. While enrolled in NU-101 students should plan to attend the BSN Workshop and speak to their faculty person for additional information regarding the application process for this Dual/Joint Degree Program.
- A student must receive a faculty recommendation indicating a strong clinical performance in NU-101. In addition to the courses required for their A.A.S. degree, students will be encouraged to complete additional Liberal Arts, Science, and Humanities courses that can be applied to the B.S. degree. Students will be guided in the selection of these courses by an advisor to maximize the courses that meet the general education, as well as the pluralism and diversity, graduation requirements for the School of Professional Studies.
- Current licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse, or eligibility to sit for the National Licensure Examination - RN (NCLEX-RN) - in New York State required. Students who do not currently hold an RN license may apply to the program in the last semester of their pre-licensure program in anticipation of licensure. Unlicensed students who meet the eligibility criteria will be admitted on a case by case basis and will be required to obtain their RN license before beginning their second term in the program.
- Students can transfer in a maximum of 90 credits to CUNY SPS.
- There is a 30 credit residency requirement for the B.S. in Nursing at CUNY SPS.
- Courses that are completed at Queensborough Community College that are deemed equivalent to B.S. in Nursing required courses will be transferrable provided that the student has received a minimum grade of "C". All courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher to be eligible for transfer credits.
- Students who do not enter the Dual/Joint program after their first semester at QCC can also select to follow this articulation agreement.
