Parent's Corner

At QCC ASAP, we want to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally. We understand that parents play a significant role in achieving this goal. Together we can make a difference in our students’ academic careers. Below you will find some information that we feel may be useful to parents with students who are in the program or who may be considering joining the program. Our goal at ASAP is to ensure that students successfully graduate with their Associate’s Degree in no more than 3 years. Our student/advisor partnership is one of the primary reasons for the program’s success. In addition to a personal advisor, students receive a tuition-gap waiver (for eligible students), a textbook voucher, a semester MetroCard, success workshops and more.  ASAP students receive all the support they need to accomplish their academic goals. Students in ASAP commit to the following: 

• Attend a Summer/Winter Institute

• Meet with an advisor twice each month

• Participate in the career development process to prepare for career success

• Maintain full-time enrollment status (12 or more credit hours per semester)

• Complete all remedial courses within the first year of being in the program

• Attend tutoring as assigned

• Maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA

• Complete four ASAP-reserved courses in the first year

• Graduate from QCC within the 3-years

QCC ASAP Interest Form

All students who are eligible to file for financial aid must do so even if they believe they will not receive financial assistance. We define financial aid as the FAFSA and TAP applications. Both applications are free. It is important to know that QCC must be listed on each application as the primary college using the school codes below.

• Visit the Office of Financial Services in the Library Building Room 409 to use our FAFSA Computer Lab for hands-on assistance with any problems you might be encountering. Hours: Monday, Thursday and Friday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

CUNY Pathways

CUNY Pathways are a set of courses available at all CUNY colleges that meet basic graduation requirements. Taking a pathways course guarantees that it will transfer to another CUNY college and will meet the same graduation requirement there. You can find more information about Pathways by visiting the QCC Pathways website.

QCC offers an online calendar that indicates important college dates throughout the semester such as the first and last day of the semester, dates in which students can properly drop a class (and refund policies), class and college closures, course schedule changes, and final examinations.
