I have a long-standing interest in cardiometabolic and vascular diseases relevant to public health. Published genome wide association, transcriptomic and proteomic studies by various laboratories together with our ongoing studies, identified that a number of proteins are altered in such diseases, although the roles and regulations of many such proteins are unknown. The goal of my research is to elucidate functions of such proteins with a hope to find novel therapeutic targets for these diseases. I am very passionate about undergraduate research (UR) and implement UR as a High Impact Practice in teaching and pedagogy. Other HIPs that I implement include GDL, SWIG and WI components.
