Online Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ)
The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) was developed and refined by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia and McKeachie in 1991 at the University of Michigan and has been continually validated in the literature. This online version of the MSLQ was developed by Dr. Kevin Kolack of the Chemistry Department at Queensborough Community College - The City University of New York. It is identical to the print version (demographic questions added) and asks you about your study habits, your learning skills, and your motivation for work in your course(s). THERE ARE NO RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONNAIRE. IT IS NOT A TEST. Your answers to the questionnaire are analyzed by computer and you will receive an individual, customized, printable report on screen and via email immediately after completion. The individual report will help you identify motivation and learning skills that you may want to improve during the term. Additionally, your instructor may view feedback on your class as a whole, which will allow them to tailor the course to your class' needs.

The online MSLQ is free to use for everyone. Instructors wishing to have their school and classes added to the dropdown boxes or access to their students' data, and/or researchers wishing to have access to the global data, should contact Dr. Kolack.
The online MSLQ is identical to the original 81-question paper version, other than collecting demographic information and providing immediate feedback. The only identifying information collected is your email address so that your results can be sent to you. You do not need to provide your email address to see your results immediately on screen. To have your scores compared to others in your school/class, be sure to select the proper school/class from the dropdown boxes. You will see a display of your scores compared with everyone who has taken the online MSLQ no matter what you enter into the school/class boxes. The online MSLQ is free to use and is in use at more than 170 schools, colleges, and universities around the world:
