What We Respond To
Industrial Hygiene: This office routinely responds to health and safety complaints from faculty/staff. Any individual should feel free to contact this office to address such concerns. Information obtained will be kept confidential.
Regulatory Compliance: As a service to the college administration, this office administers compliance programs in accordance with various government regulations including but not limited to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Material safety data sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals and chemical products present on the college campus will be made available on this website. Laboratory and Chemical Safety: To ensure that users of hazardous materials are protected, this office routinely conducts inspections of laboratories and areas where hazardous materials are being used. Users are instructed on associated hazards and risks and trained on safe handling and emergency procedures.
Hazardous Waste Management: Waste is classified as hazardous after reviewing characteristics such as flammability, corrosivity, toxicity, and reactivity. Based upon analysis of these characteristics, waste is disposed appropriately in accordance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
