Hourly Custodial Assistant (Multiple Positions)

**GENERAL DUTIES**

Under supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty in cleaning public buildings and their immediate grounds; performs related light labor.

There is no Assignment Level for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as needed.

- Sweeps, damp mops, and wet mops office floors, toilets, corridors, lobbies, and other assigned floor areas.

- Cleans washbasins and other toilet room facilities.

- Washes walls by hand with a brush or by using an electric machine.

- Scrubs floors with an electric machine; waxes and polishes floors.

- Hand scrubs stairs and stair landings.

- Empties waste basket and disposes of refuse.

- Vacuums and cleans rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture.

- Dusts and removes and cleans window coverings such as blinds.

- Performs shoulder high dusting of walls.

- Dusts and polishes furniture and metal work.

- Cleans mirrors and glass in bookcase, doors, and restrooms.

- Washes electric light fixtures.

- Replenishes bathroom supplies in toilets.

- Sweeps sidewalks and removes snow from sidewalks; washes sidewalks and lower portion of buildings with brush and hose.

- Replaces bulbs and fuses.

- Attends a low pressure heating plant.

- May occasionally operate an elevator, move furniture, or act as watch person.

- Reports broken equipment.

- Observes safety and environmental health precautions as directed.

- Puts up safety warnings and/or stanchions for wet floors or other areas for limited access during cleaning.

- Sorts refuse for recycling.

- Cleans small kitchens and/or coffee service areas.

The Buildings and Grounds Department welcomes applications for hourly Custodial Assistant positions. These positions will report to the Administrative Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

There are no formal education or experience requirements.

There are certain medical and physical requirements as established by University management.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

-Minimum of 2 years of custodial or related experience (preferred).

-Experience using scrubbing machines, buffing machines, and other commercial cleaning equipment.

-Experience cleaning and maintaining restrooms, including replenishing supplies.

-Experience mopping, scrubbing, and waxing floors, as well as dusting and polishing furniture.

-Experience vacuuming and cleaning rugs/carpets.

-Experience working in a diverse environment, with a preference for experience in a higher education setting.

-Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and the campus community.

**COMPENSATION**

*New Hire: $18.54

Incumbent: $19.12

+ This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.

Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Counselor.

Reporting to the Director, the Adjunct Counselor will provide counseling services to Queensborough Community College students. Additionally, they will conduct and manage multiple student functions and projects, such as campus workshops, and college success seminars in a classroom setting.

The Counselor will:

- Provide crisis intervention

- Provide personal, academic, and career counseling to students

- Assist students with educational planning, including problem solving strategies and goal setting.

- Provide student advocacy services, connect students with college offices, community agencies and external support services

- Maintain records of student contacts

- Facilitate a non-credit college success seminar in classroom and on-line settings.

- Late afternoon and evening availability required

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

Bachelor's Degree required.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**

A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs - Or

A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for psychological counseling,and

A New York State license as a mental health practitioner (clinical social work, psychology, or mental health counseling).

In addition, six years' professional experience is required for all candidates.

Assistant Professor - Medical Surgical Nursing

**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**

The Nursing Department at Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Medical Surgical Nursing. The candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

The department's facilities include a simulation laboratory. The department provides opportunities for students to achieve their Bachelor's Degree in Nursing through three dual/joint programs within The City University of New York. **QUALIFICATIONS**

Requirements include Master's Degree in Nursing. RN licensure in NYS and appropriate, specialized experience in Medical Surgical and/or Behavioral Health Nursing and/or Peds/Maternal Health

Preferred qualifications include:

-Strong clinical background in Medical Surgical and/or Behavioral Health Nursing and/or Peds/Maternal Health.

-Prior teaching experience demonstrated scholarly work or achievement in the field of nursing, and the ability to cooperate with others, for the good of the institution.

-A strong preference for community college teaching.

-Research interests in teaching/learning innovation.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications ($ 82,928 - $86,645 (subject to collective bargaining agreement).
