Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:00PM

  1. Attendance
  2. Reviewed and approved Committee meeting minutes from May 12th, 2022.
  3. Faculty Survey for Student Evaluation of Faculty Forms – related problems with the administration of the evaluation forms. Subgroup to get the form out by early-mid-October? VERY low response rate for evaluation- online for all courses, regardless of modality. Not going to get a registration or grade approval stop through the administration, so how do we get students to participate? For synchronous online and in-person courses, faculty should give time in class to do it. For asynchronous courses, not sure. Flyers with information (and QR code) to get to it? Group trip to computer center? Refreshments/prizes? Rezan, Kevin, Jennifer, and Carlene will work on the survey to be sent to faculty evaluating the evaluation forms developed to include the various modalities. HR asked that the 2 forms be merged back into a single form. Last year the committee thought that was a poor idea- this should be a question on the survey.
  4. Workshop on Faculty Development- add a question regarding faculty desires and volunteers to the survey as well. SOTL series was a great, but big commitment. Others may want more “one off” type seminars/workshops. Rezan will send the pre-pandemic list to the Committee. Melissa will head up a group to arrange these. Kevin Kolack & Beth Counihan’s Mindset workshop on 11/2 can be sponsored by the Committee, and Pullin has a workshop for either Oct or December. We will try to find one more, perhaps in conjunction with eLearning.
  5. Old business- none
  6. New business
    1. Steering Committee asked that all committees meet in person. We will start this in October, but also simulcast it for members who cannot attend in person.
Meeting adjourned 1:40PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin Kolack
Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs, Secretary
