The Academic Senate Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs met on May 10, 2023 at 11:00AM - RFK201


Committee Members in Attendance:

Present: Arthur Abramov (2025), Rezan Akpinar (2023, Chair), Carlene Byfield (2024), Melissa Dennihy (Vice-Chair 2023), Jennifer Klein (2024), Danny Mangra (2025)

Not present: Lyubomir Boyadzhiev (2024), Rondi Davies (2023), Kevin Kolack (dept mtg; Secretary, 2025)


Liaisons in Attendance:

Present: Mark Ulrich (Steering Committee designee)

Not present: Michael Pullin (President's designee)

 


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 11:05AM

  1. Attendance
  2. Minutes from April meeting were approved without changes
  3. Discussed Student and Faculty Survey: 136 students submitted out of 9,314 and 112 faculty out of 697. Tenured faculty are not evaluated; we are not sure if they took the survey. Discussed that new faculty don’t know to mention survey.
  4. It was discussed to present survey results during September Senate meeting (Date to be determined) for both faculty and staff. 
  5. Old business
    Discussed suggestions on promoting survey and suggestions for asynchronous survey.
  6. New business
    Welcomed new members.
    Held elections for Chair, Vice-Chair (current Vice-Chair Dennihy will be on sabbatical next year), and Secretary:
    Rezan Akpinar, Health, re-elected Chairperson
    Deborah Karlin elected Vice-Chair
    Kevin Kolack re-elected Secretary
Meeting adjourned 12:00PM.
