Meeting Minutes for September 4, 2015

The Academic Senate Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs met on September 4th, 2015, at 2:00 pm in S-214


Committee Members in Attendance:

Tirandai Hemraj-Benny (Faculty), Emily Berry (Faculty), Nicole Lopez-Jantzen (Faculty), Vazgen Shekoyan (Faculty), Yusuf Gurtas (Faculty), Neera Mohess (Faculty) 


Liaisons in Attendance:

 Sandra Palmer (Dean of Faculty)


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm

  1. Tirandai Hemraj-Benny nominated Susan McLaughlin to serve as Secretary. Emily Berry seconded the nomination. Susan McLaughlin was elected as the new Secretary of the Academic Development Committee with five votes. 
  2. Emily Berry nominated Tirandai Hemraj-Benny to serve as Chairperson. Tirandai was elected as the new Chairperson of the Academic Development Committee with five votes. 
  3. Tirandai Hemraj-Benny discussed the workshop “Enriched Teaching and Learning: Connecting to Interdisciplinary Initiatives on Campus,” which was offered by the Academic Development Committee in Spring 2015. Tirandai Hemraj-Benny will create an official report on the outcomes of the workshop and will share it with the committee during the next meeting.
  4. It was proposed that the ADC should send a survey to all faculty asking their preference for the workshop, which can be offered by the ADC in the future.
  5. Members of the ADC will create a list of events from their respective departments to be shared at the next meeting.
  6. Next Meeting: Wednesday, October 7th, 2015, at 11:00 am.   

 

The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 pm.
