Proposal to Reduce Extended Absence Period Required for Readmission under Fresh Start Policy
Whereas: the Academic Senate approved in April 2019 an Academic Fresh Start Policy, under which dismissed students could gain fresh readmission after an absence of four years from any college; and
Whereas: a reduction in the extended absence period from four years to two years would attract more applicants to the college in a time of low enrollment; and
Whereas: The Committees on Admission and Course and Standing in cooperation with Office of Academic Affairs both approved such a reduction;
Therefore, Be It Resolved that the extended absence period required for readmission under the Academic Fresh Start Policy be reduced from four years to two years:
From: The Academic Fresh Start policy is designed to assist those students who have had a minimum 4-year separation from QCC and who demonstrate a greater level of academic maturity as a result of that separation. Must not have attended any post-secondary institutions for a minimum of four (4) years
To: The Academic Fresh Start policy is designed to assist those students who have had a minimum 2-year separation from QCC and who demonstrate a greater level of academic maturity as a result of that separation. Must not have attended any post-secondary institutions for a minimum of two (2) years
