The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness met on October 21, 2020 at 12:15PM via secure online meeting


Committee Members in Attendance:

Raul Armendariz (Physics, 2021), Thomas Byrnes (Admissions, 2023), Chukwudi Ikwueze (Social Sciences, 2022), Christine (Mi-Seon) Kim (Library, 2021, co-Chair), Kevin Kolack (Chemistry, 2022, Secretary), Manuel Martinez (English, 2022), Amos Orlofsky (Biological Sciences and Geology, 2021, co-Chair), Barbara Rome (Nursing, 2023), Biao Wang (Math, 2023)

Absent: TBA (student representatives)


Liaisons in Attendance:

Arthur Corradetti (Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, President's Liaison), Ian Beckford (Director of Policy Analysis for General Education, Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning)

Absent: Stephen Hammel (Committee on Committees designee), TBA (Steering Committee designee)


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM

  1. Approval of minutes from September, 23 2020 meeting and approval of agenda.
    1. Approved minutes as edited (motion Barbara, Christine second)
    2. Agenda approved without objections
  2. Report on General Education assessment for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019
    1. Ian presented the draft report.
  3. Committee Activity Form / 2019-2020 Annual Report
    1. Reviewed the “Committee Activities Form”provided by the Steering Committee
      1. Charges are outdated; SC will be notified
      2. Activities will be updated following submission of final version of 2019-2020 annual report
    2. Annual report will be posted on the website using the template and hyperlink to the rubric developed by the Committee
  4. Evaluation of departmental year-end reports
    1. 8 have been posted with assessment sections, to be reviewed as follows:
      1. Art & Design Barbara
      2. Bio & Geo Christine
      3. Business Kevin
      4. English Amos
      5. FLL Chukwudi
      6. HPED Thomas
      7. Nursing Biao
      8. Social Sciences Manuel
    2. Barbara & Amos will present next meeting (11/18)
    3. Amos & Christine did email all the Chairs about contacting the departmental assessment committees and are awaiting responses
  5. No new business
  6. Meeting adjourned 1:30PM (motion Barbara; second Kevin)
