The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness met on November 10, 2021 at 12:10PM via secure online meeting


Committee Members in Attendance:

Thomas Byrnes (Admissions, 2023), Urszula Golebiewska (Biology, 2024), Chukwudi Ikwueze (Social Sciences, 2022), Kevin Kolack (Chemistry, 2022, Secretary), Manuel Martinez (English, 2022), Renee Rhodd (Transfer Resources Center, 2024), Barbara Rome (Nursing, 2023), Mark Ulrich (Business, 2024), Biao Wang (Math, 2023)

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:10 PM

  1. Approval of agenda. Approved without objections.
  2. Approval of minutes from October 13th, 2021. Approved without objections.
  3. Presentation of selected non-teaching departments' assessment results
    1. CI- Institutional Research, Math Learning Center, Institutional Effectiveness
    2. UG- Grants & Sponsored Programs, Continuing Ed & Workforce Development, Educational Technology
    3. KK- Advocacy Resource Center, Affirmative Action, Academy Advisement
    4. MU- Military & Veteran Services, New Student Engagement, Office for Students with Disabilities
    5. RR- CSTEP, CUNY EDGE
    6. TB, BR and others will present next time
    7. There was some discussion about departmental goals not tying into their missions and/or not being internally consistent (top/bottom of the report)
  4. Old business
    1. Coordination with departmental assessment committees & meeting with the Provost
      Still pending. IB and UG will work on updating the survey sent to Chairs last year.
    2. Update on Committee Addendum
      Posted for committee input. Complete by next meeting.
    3. Update from the Working Group for the creation of a rubric for assessing program reviews
      BR and UG modified an existing rubric and further work is in progress. Draft to present in Dec.
  5. New business- none
