The Academic Senate Committee on Bylaws met on March 6th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., by Zoom

Business:
The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m.
- Approval of minutes from last meeting
- Consensus was made that we have wrapped-up the Continuing Education committee proposal we discussed during recent meetings, including with the provost. Sujun will contact the committee with our findings today.
- Discussion of Publications Committee request for an additional by-law. This committee is requesting to add the item “Make suggestions and remind responsible stakeholders to review and update as necessary individual department websites.”
- It was discussed that this additional charge is work they are already doing as per the following charges of their committee: and (3) Serve as an advisory group for the college website and publications associated with the College. (4) Serve as an editorial board for the Queensborough Community College Newsletter, Community Calendar, the Faculty Handbook and other handbooks, and other publications of this nature.
- It was decided that we deny this request based on the fact that we interpret this proposed new bylaw as one of their current charges. We invite them to explain this request further to the Bylaws committee if they are not happy with this response.
- Sujun suggests that the Bylaws committee generates a template for bylaw changes which includes changes from/to and background. We can put this on the website. Barbara will make a form in Onedrive for this.
- Updates during Winter break.
- Meeting minutes were posted to the website.
- Sujun wrote a bylaws committee report for the senate. They approved it at the February meeting.
