Reports from cultural center directors:

I. KHC: 200 people attended the KHC seder; Shoah documentary showing during Holocaust remembrance week; the Yom HaShoah commemoration focusing on inter-generational trauma; Turtle Island exhibition ready; will spend summer in planning mode.

II. QPAC – theater restoration project ground-breaking scheduled for May 17th ; fiscal year ending in the black; programming a more modest schedule for next season; lots of positive audience feedback on this semester’s events; service-learning collaboration with the Accounting department as a pedagogical resource for our website.

III. Art Gallery: dealing with artwork storage in the basement; working on funding for the Goya exhibit (Spanish government promised 100,00 euros); dealing with security and insurance for the Goya exhibit that will include 8 never-before-shown works; preparing a pedagogical guide for the Goya exhibit.

Chairperson’s report: CAR Committee’s website up to date. Steering Committee has asked that the meeting minutes also contain a list of members who did not attend the meetings.

Discussion with Stephen DiDio: QCC Twitter account is more effective than individual ones. The biggest challenge in promoting is that the Marketing Department is not aware of all the events. Committee can help by reminding the center directors to submit events to the College events calendar (event descriptions should be inviting and detailed). The posted events can then be shared further. Faculty and students need to visit cultural center websites’ pages to find out about events in advance. The Marketing sends a Monday morning blast to remind the community about the week’s events. Year-end report due at the end of June. Cary and Mirna will write about the website updates and compile everything for the year-end report.

Adam and Heather will itemize the art gallery acquisitions. Jose will be uploading scholarship that can go into the repository. Sarbani has the data on traffic to the cultural center websites as well as social media data. Wenli and Kathleen will summarize committee’s projects and future plans. All paragraphs should be emailed to Cary by June 15th .

Goals for 2019-20: Scholarship and pedagogy as a focus going forward Committee guidelines brochure (a document that some committees currently have) – a possible project for the future

Election of officers for 2019-2020:

Wenli Guo- chairperson

Adam Luedtke - secretary

Meeting adjourned at 1:15pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Mirna Lekic
