The work of the committee
At QCC there are three cultural centers: the QCC Art Gallery, Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC) and Harriet & Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Center (KHC).The CCAR committee serves as a liaison between the three QCC cultural centers and the campus community.
The work of the committee consists of promoting and advertising the cultural centers’ activities and events on campus; organizing events to facilitate pedagogical collaborations between faculty and the cultural centers and reporting to the Academic Senate activities, acquisitions, and facility updates at three centers.
Most recently the committee compiled a list of pedagogical resources for faculty on how to integrate the cultural centers’ programs and resources into their curriculum of studies. The resources are available on the committee’s web page and they will be updated every semester.
Moreover, the committee helps individual faculty members to connect with the directors of the three cultural centers to establish pedagogical collaborations. The modalities of such collaborations vary from center to center and from discipline to discipline. Typically, individual faculty members work one to one with the centers’ directors to discuss their interests and goals for the collaboration.
