Steering Committee Suggested Charges/Committee Goals
The Steering Committee thanks the Committee on CEWD for its efforts to maintain transparency in its ongoing update of its Bylaws Charges as well as ongoing efforts to maximize its efficiency and serve as best as possible QCC’s population of students who have and will in the future take advantage of these valuable programs. Throughout the coming academic year, please inform the Steering Committee if we can be of assistance as you seek to meet your committee goals.
Facilitate Student participation in certain meetings, or parts of meetings, not to review nor vote on student scholarship applications, but to be aware of scholarship opportunities and committee process. A Committee Representation Preference Form will be sent to already-elected student senators during the first week of the semester, and to the remaining roster of senators culled from Club officers by the end of September. Students will be given link to your committee's webpage, so make sure the webpage has chair/secretary contact information on it, including meeting times where possible. The Committee on CEWD should seek to solidify its proposal for changes to its Bylaws Charges so that a document may be submitted for Bylaws Committee review by the end of the 2023 calendar year. This would provide ample time for any necessary revision and eventual presentation to the Academic Senate for consideration during the Spring 2024 semester.
Prior to submitting a document for Bylaws Committee consideration in amending committee charges, the Committee on CEWD should determine beforehand whether those amended charges will be actionable based on QCC’s ongoing mission, available programs at QCC, and within the purview of the committee to engage in such work. Based on your year-end report, it seems very clear that you have been diligent in seeking advice from administrative and departmental personnel who are very well suited to guiding the committee in this effort. Please keep the Steering Committee apprised of your progress and inform us if we may be of any assistance.
