The Academic Senate Committee on Curriculum met on April 12, 2022 at 2:10 pm in S-322 and online via Blackboard Collaborate

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 2:10 PM

  1. The minutes of the April 5, 2022 meeting were approved by the committee. 

  2. The committee welcomed Dr. Haishen Yao, Chair, and Dr. Susana Pinheiro of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science to discuss proposals for their department.

  3. The committee discussed the proposed new program for the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Mathematics. After discussing the proposal, the committee voted, and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.

  4. The committee discussed the proposed new course MA-114ALP: “Corequisite Support for College Algebra and Trigonometry for Technical Students.” After discussing the proposal, the committee voted, and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.

  5. The committee discussed the proposed course revision of CS-100: “Introduction to Computers and Programming.” After discussing the proposal, the committee voted, and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.
  6. The committee welcomed Ben Murolo, Chair of the Business Department, to discuss the proposed course revision of CIS-101: “Introduction to Computing and Information Systems.” After discussing the proposal, the committee voted, and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.

  7. The committee welcomed Dr. Nidhi Gadura, Chair, and Dr. Punita Bhansali of the Department of Biological Sciences and Geology to discuss the proposed revision for the Medical Assistant A.A.S. Program from the Department of Biological Sciences & Geology and Business Department. After discussing the proposal, the committee voted, and the proposal was approved unanimously by those present.

  8. The committee welcomed Dr. Georgia McGill, Chair of the Department of Communication, Theatre, & Media Production to discuss the proposed course revisions of:

    TH-122 Actors’ Workshop I
    TH-222 Actors’ Workshop II

    After discussing the proposals, the committee voted, and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present.

  9. The committee welcomed Belle Birchfield, and Steve Trowbridge of the Engineering Technology Department to discuss the proposal for the new Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program in Cybersecurity. After discussing the proposals, the committee voted, and the proposals were approved unanimously by those present.

    The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 PM.
