The meeting was called to order at 2:10 PM
- The minutes of the September 4, 2018 meeting were approved by the committee.
- The committee discussed the planned proposal of the Physics Department to fix a course numbering problem (changing PH-401 and PH-402 to PH-421 and PH-422) by a vote at the next Academic Senate meeting on September 25 at 3:10 pm. The committee prepared the following statement for the meeting:
“Whereas we, the Curriculum Committee of the Academic Senate, passed PH-401 and PH-402 as new courses in Fall 2017,
And whereas it was later discovered that there is a conflict with the number PH-402 with an existing course,
And whereas we understand that this conflict, if not resolved, would mean that PH-402 would not be allowed to run in the Spring 2019 semester,
And whereas a renumbering within the 400s would indicate that the level of the course is the same,
And whereas such a renumbering would not affect the courses content,
Therefore the Curriculum Committee of the Academic Senate does not oppose the renumbering of these new courses PH-401 and PH-402 to PH-421 and PH-422, respectively.”
After discussing the proposal, the committee voted and the statement was approved unanimously by those present.
- The committee discussed the modification of Form 4 to remove Box 14 (concerning the attendance policy) from the form. After discussing the change, the committee voted and the statement was approved.
- The committee considered the proposed course revisions from the Engineering Technology There was a question about ET-580 that will be examined before the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Patrick Wallach
