Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM

 

 

  • Agenda approved
  • Meeting minutes from 9/28/22 approved
  • Old/ongoing business discussed
    • Student survey distribution.  Shahar is communicating with the Office of Institutional Research on the launch of the survey.  The survey went out Nov. 14 and will be available for 2 weeks on Qualtrics.  Committee members can inform any students they have contact with to complete the survey.
    • Starbucks is no longer in the library. Williams reports it has reduced noise levels and amount of food in the library.  Administration has not shared any plans intended for the space where Starbucks used to be.  Prof. Williams would like something inviting but the safety of the space is also a consideration.  Prof. Kebedech proposed art works could be displayed from the art department. Prof. Kebedech also suggested painting the wall with harmonious colors, if artwork is not possible. Prof. Williams has noted that lounge chairs were there in the past but had to be removed.
  • New Business
    • Interim Chief Librarian Williams shared some current updates on the library. The search for the Chief Librarian will be relaunched as first search was unsuccessful.  The library continues to face some short staffing issues.  Current hours are 8 am -5pm Mon, Weds, Fri, and 8am-7:45pm on Tues and Weds, Sat 10-2:45.
    • Next meeting. March 1st, 2023,  at 12:15, room MA 123.  The meeting will be in person with hybrid option.
