Introductions
New members, Prof. Jodi VanDerHorn-Gibson and Prof. Angela Ridinger-Dotterman, were introduced to the committee
Old Business
Dr. Tuszynska reported that no progress has been made regarding the accessible bathroom on the first floor of the library. Dr. Faulkner has still not replied to email requests for updates.
Dr. Ridinger-Dotterman suggested contacting the newly formed accessibility committee regarding the ongoing problem of a lack of accessible bathrooms in the library.
STEAM Lab Update
Drs. Tuszynska and Ridinger-Dotterman sent the proposal for the STEAM lab to the steering committee. No official word has been received from the committee yet, but informally the suggestion was made that the specific aims of the STEAM Lab be set forth in more detail in the proposal.
Prof. Galvin advised that a primary concern is with the budget and allocation of funds for those who would oversee the plans and space.
Dr. Ridinger-Dotterman is currently in discussions with other committees who have successfully presented proposals to the 5th floor. The committee on the Environment, Quality of Life and Disability Issues will be consulted regarding their day care proposal. A new STEAM Lab proposal will be drafted based on their suggestions and presented to the library committee in September.
Dr. Ridinger-Dotterman updated the committee on a new NEH grant that opens in June that may be applicable to the STEAM Lab as this NEH grant supports collaborative work between the humanities and STEM. The grant application is due in September, and it was agreed upon that this would be a summer project for the library committee.
