New Business: Department Webpage Standardization
James Geasor presented the results of his overview of various department webpages, focused on what content is presented, and what should be standardized. He noted several issues. First, the left side menus on different department webpages are inconsistent. Some, like the history department show that there is a History Concentration”, others don’t. Second, there are some broken links.
James Geasor suggested that the left menu on each page start with the same four links: Department (Name) Home, Degree Programs or Concentrations, Courses Offered, Faculty & Staff.
Old Business: Tenure and Promotion Guidelines
Kerri-Ann Smith presented the revised tenure and promotion guidelines raised the question of whether the committee would give feedback or not.
The committee discussed how some of the guidelines have ambiguous/unclear distinctions, specifically the distinction between lecturer and professorial lines (including “instructor” titles), and how these are related to terminal degrees and future advancement.
Kerri-Ann Smith recommended that the committee review the guidelines to identify problematic or confusing guidelines. Committee members will review the guidelines for the next meeting.
Upcoming Meeting:
The next meeting will be April 14 at 12:30pm.
Patrick Byers made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which passed at 1:32pm.
