The meeting was called to order at 12:07 PM

Chair:    Kerri-Ann M. Smith

Secretary:   Vazgen Shekoyan

The bulk of the meeting was devoted to discussing the Faculty Handbook.

  1. The committee discussed pros and cons of directly linking to sites (for both cases of internal and external links). It was noted that 30-35% of the links are non-QCC links, also CUNY links change often without giving proper notice to QCC.
  2. One crucial con of only including a link without description is that if the link stops working then Faculty Handbook might stop being in compliance since it is a legal document. We agreed that some description should be kept. The committee decided to invite Liza Larios to discuss this matter further.
  3. The survey results should be taken into consideration as well. For example, information on access to technology was one of the items mentioned by several faculty.
  4. Another suggestion was to put include a date when each subsection is updated so the reader will be aware that it might not be the most current information.
  5. The committee also discussed the information on Promotion and Tenure suggested by Phil Pecorino.
  6. It was suggested that the committee should appoint members to oversee different sections of the Handbook. Also, to ensure continuity, the committee should consider adding this in the by-laws and the committee guide.

The committee meeting should open to public. The committee discussed whether it should be done via Zoom waiting room or requiring registration.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 01:04 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Vazgen Shekoyan
Committee on Publications, Secretary
