  1. Minutes from February 10, 2021 approved.

 3.) Volunteer Virtual Fair Recap

  • The Volunteer Fair was a success. We had a good turnout of about 20 students. We had a diverse, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic group of presenters.
  • We will reach out to Brooklyn Community Services in the future as they offer many useful services applicable to our students.
  • There was some discussion about future Volunteer events in Spring 2022; virtual versus in person.
  • Food Pantry panel was particularly well attended. Need to get the word out regarding this and perhaps give students some talking points to disseminate the information to peers.
  • Dave Morretti will leave the Volunteer opportunities web page up.

4.)  Faculty/ Student Breakout Discussions

  • Planning for a Faculty/ Student discussion event with breakout rooms for various Covid-19 experiential topics began.
  • We reached out to the Steering Committee, but have not heard back. There was some discussion that some faculty may have reservations about sharing personal information with students. It was decided that the discussion would take place in April 2021 in the form of general discussion and then breakout groups, with each committee member cohosting the sessions in conjunction with counseling department.
  • The topics of breakout rooms would range from personal narrative of students during Covid-19, but also more light-hearted topics for discussion.
  • Some possible topics include: streaming movies, tik-tok, hobbies, pets, and exercise.
  • Wilma Fletcher-Anthony may be present, but other members of the Counseling Department will be represented to answer questions, and to co-facilitate groups. There was a range of times discussed about when the sessions would occur.
  • Kim took a poll of times that work best for faculty, staff, and students. Times varied from weekdays after 6 pm to Friday afternoons from 4-5 pm.

5.) Student Activities Recap

  • SGA elections are upcoming and election details need to be worked out. There needs to be a facilitation of the process.
  • Groups are still very active, with many events on different nights that are well attended. There was a successful meeting with Con-Edison.
  • There is a need for faculty mentors to get involved.

6.) New Business

  • We need to change meeting times for Student Activities Committee due to various scheduling conflicts with faculty members. TBD.

Meeting adjourned at  4:00
