The Academic Senate Committee on Student Activities met on April 14, 2023 at 1:00pm (Virtual)


Committee Members in Attendance:

Wilfredo Moran, Ilse Schrynemakers, Carolyn King, Kwang Hyun Kim, Alison Mello, Weier Ye, Jennifer Klein


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:04 PM

Chairperson Wilfredo Moran called the meeting to order at 1:04 PM. 

Approval of Minutes:

  • Minutes approved from 03/31/2023 Meeting 

Agenda Discussion Topics:

1.) Meeting Called to Order

2.) Approved Meeting Minutes from 2/15/23 

3.) Finalization of Spring 2023 Volunteer Fair

  • Members discussed final planning for this semester’s fair.
    • Humanities Quad reserved for Wed April 26th 12-2pm.
    • Rain date Wed May 3rd is reserved but the fair should be held on April 26th to ensure participating organizations can attend.
    • 5 external organization and QCC Career Services have confirmed attending
    • Chairperson Schrynemakers offered to touch base with them for a final confirmation.
    • Chairperson Moran offered to reach out to Student Government to see if they would like to participate.
    • Members discussed other logistics:
      • Previous event flyer supplied by Professor King was updated to reflect this year’s event. Chairperson(s) will reach out to:
        • Marketing/Creative for signage approval and adding event to campus calendar/website. Members supported having posters printed instead of flyers.
    • Members discussed other fair needs:
      • WiFi access for guests (Chairperson Moran will facilitate)
      • Tables will be requested from Buildings and Ground
      • Parking (John Triolo) + Campus Access requests. Professor King will inquire about process. Chairperson Schrynemakers will facilitate.
    • Committee members will be in contact by email.
    • Logistics should be wrapped up by April 21st
    • Members asked to promote fair in their departments and classes.

4.) New Business

  • Chairperson Moran discussed committee turnover and final meeting (date TBD).

  • Professor King will be ending her term and members supported her request to become an Liaison in the upcoming year
