Old Business

  • Debriefing of Volunteer Fair:

Volunteer Fair went very well.  Suggestions from the Committee included:

  • Start communication earlier, possibly do reach out in the spring for fall fair.
  • Continue to combine the fair with the Student Activities Fair in fall, but have it a little more separated and a sign to distinguish.
  • Look for new organizations to participate in fair.
  • Survey was only filled out by one organization.  It was positive feedback, no criticism.
  • 2 organizations did not show or call to cancel for the fair- Long Island Children’s Museum and New York Presbyterian.
  • Update on Library Committee/Starbucks Move:
    • There is a meeting on 10/31/18 at 12:30pm to discuss the possible move to the Student Union.  A Faculty Survey is in the works to see if the move is going to make an impact on faculty and what their thoughts are.  Impressions are that faculty are backing the move of Starbucks to the Student Union.
  • Update on Marketing/Communication with Students:
    • An email was sent to get clarification of the protocol of how to promote an event on campus effectively.
    • Learned from other committee members that emails that have more than 50 students or faculty cannot be sent on own, it has to go through marketing.
    • Framework and intention for conversation through marketing was to help faculty and committee reach all the students they could.
    • It was suggested that Committee Chair speak directly to Angelica May in Marketing/Communications.
  • Student Activities Report:
    • Movie Night-  10/26/18, Ant-Man and WASP
    • Halloween Party 10/30/18 SUL 6pm-10pm
  • It was discussed that there have been no official Charges from Senate
