The Academic Senate Committee on Student Activites met on November 6, 2018 at 1 pm in L-413


Committee Members in Attendance:

Liaisons in Attendance:

  • Interim VP Brian Kerr.

Absent:

  • Randelle Sasa
  • Danny Sexton
  • Ray Volel
  • Kerri-Ann Smith


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:14

  1. Approval of the minutes of the November 06, 2018 by voice vote.
  2. Approval of the agenda for December 11, 2018 by voice vote.

Old Business

  • Update on Library Committee:
    • Discussion included a Starbucks annex in the Student Union Building!
    • Student Union Building possibly being reconfigured to better fit student needs
    • There was discussion about the Food Insecurity Issue and possible ways to help
    • Chair Kimberly Riegel discussed letting things play out the way they are planned
  • Update on Marketing/Communication with Students:
    • Chair Kimberly Riegel met with VP Di Dio.  A discussion was had about a document that marketing may have that we can use to guide us to reach out to students. 
    • Interim VP Kerr discussed VP Di Dio and suggested that the committee be prepared with questions and know exactly what we are looking to gain from a meeting with him. 
  • Student Activities Report:
    • NO UPDATE

New Business:

  • Club Business: Issues with budgets being ready until ½ way through semester.  Is there some way to stream line this process.  Something to discuss with Ray or Gisela at next meeting.
  • Academic Senate Committee:  We still have no charges for the year, Chair Kimberly Riegel will continue to reach out and attend meetings.
  • SPARC Issue: SPARC has been causing issues with all clubs and organizations, but is working itself out.  It will take a little longer for it to be mainstream and all students will have to complete by next semester.
