- Volunteer Fair 2018
- We had 6 local organizations participate in the volunteer fair
- We set thank you letters to each of the participating organizations
- We sent a follow up survey to the organizations
- We got a positive response though the survey with the suggestion of contacting organizations earlier.
- Liaison with SGA
- The chair met with SGA once each semester to introduce ourselves and discuss the platform of the board in order to better assist SGA.
- We provided assistance to the SGA with their agenda items such as improving the QCC App and improving the Library environment.
- Student Survey
- We reviewed the results of the student survey
- All of the procedures for promoting clubs have been changed so we decided to re-launch the student survey to see if the marking improvements have changed the student awareness of activities on campus
- Improve Communication regarding clubs
- We met with marketing several times to try and better understand the workflow for promoting activities on campus
- We suggested tutorial videos for people interested in promoting events through marketing
- Marketing has agreed to complete the videos but was not available to create them this year
- We also determined that most people interested in attending events are overscheduled during club events. We started discussions with the academies to try and have less, more impactful events during club hours.
Overall Committee Effectiveness
We continue to provide a well attended Volunteer Fair for the students. We worked hard this semester working more closely with SGA and were successful in coordinating on a few projects with them. We met and worked with marketing and the academies to try and improve communication between student activities and other essential departments for student activities. We found that there are some serious issues with the way that clubs are ratified and the way that clubs promote there events as well as the sheer number of events during club hours. It is important to try and address these issues with input from the students, staff, faculty and administration. It makes sense that tackling some of these issues would fall under the student activities committee however, it may be a larger problem than we can tackle effectively. It is worth a conversation to determine what the best path forward might be.
Suggested Future Goals
- Continue to work with the Academies and student activities to improve event scheduling during club hours.
- Work with Marketing to improve the understanding of how to market event successfully
- Re-launch the Student survey and compare the results to previous survey.
- Work with student activities to improve the club ratification process.
