Steering Committee Report October 2021

Steering Committee thanks the following Senate Standing Committees for their posting to their webpages of their Annual Reports: Committee on Committees, Stephen Hammel, chair; Committee on Food Insecurity, Jonathan Cornick, chair. We thank the Food Insecurity Committee on their outstanding work and our glad to invite outgoing chair Jonathan Cornick to update the Senate on committee activities.

At this writing we await Annual Reports from Committees on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs, Cultural and Archival Resources, Computer Resources, Course and Standing, eLearning, and Publications. This is an extraordinarily busy time and we thank again those committees who have submitted their reports.

Steering Committee will present for a floor vote a Proposal for the Naming of the Food Pantry. It will be proposed that the pantry be permanently named the Lucille A. Bova Food Pantry, in honor of past President Diane Call's mother. The renaming is proposed in view of Dr. Call's 47 years' service to the college and a generous donation to the pantry that she wishes to make.

The Senate will vote to permanently adopt a revised Student Evaluation of Faculty form for online teaching modalities. Thanks go to Rezan Akpinar, chair, and the Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs for their work on this form.

As we come to terms with the challenges we face, it's a good time to renew our efforts to connect as fully with our students as possible, so that we may continue to guide them, and all of us, toward success.
