The Academic Senate took the following actions in academic year 2020-2021:
Faculty Access to College e-Mail Lists Policy permanently adopted
Current PNET Student Evaluation of Faculty Form temporarily adopted, pending new form
Upper Seat Limit Policy tabled indefinitely, per Department Chair and Administration discussions
WU Grade Policy amended
Current HR policies and processes deemed sufficient by Anti-Bullying Special Committee
Report of work to date of President’s Task Force for Strategic Planning adopted
Patrick Wallach elected to Curriculum Committee by Nomination by Petition; remainder of Committee on Committee’s Committee Ballot elected as presented
Work of Kathleen Villani as department chair, Steering Committee member, and senator acknowledged on occasion of her stepping down as chair
The following actions by Standing Committees of the Academic Senate were undertaken:
Publications Committee posted Faculty Handbook online
Steering Committee undertook the following actions:
Steering Committee presented the Request for Reassigned time to President Mangino, which she approved. The request for 24 hours was the same as the request for 2019-2020
In accordance with college-wide efforts toward diversity and inclusion in faculty governance, Steering Committee undertook recruitment efforts to senators who are Black for membership in Steering Committee, and to all eligible potential nominees to run for seats in the Senate
Began assessment of Senate committees, per Middle States feedback. Assessement of committees will be part of three year cycle, to include assessment of Senate effectiveness, and assessment of college governance webpages
In response to pandemic issues SC officers participated all year in moderating recurring town halls, and in Emergency Management Group meetings
Steering Committee worked on the President’s Task Force for Community Engagement and Strategic Planning
For outstanding service, Steering Committee thanks Leslie Francis on his stepping down as Parliamentarian
Steering Committee thanked in academic year 2020-2021 6th College President Dr. Christine Mangino for superior work in the first year of her presidency
