Course Description in college catalog:

This course will teach non-swimmers and/or fearful swimmers how to relax in the water. In addition, students will begin basic swimming skills, e.g. breath control, floating, crawlstroke and backstroke.

1 Students registering in PE-520, PE-521, and 522 pay a special supplies or service fee as listed in the Tuition and Fees section.

  2. Students will be able to demonstrate 2 or more ways of entering and exiting the pool

  3. Students will be able to demonstrate basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes

  4. Students will be able to describe and demonstrate proper arm, leg and breathing techniques for various basic swimming skills

  5. Students will be able to demonstrate aquatic proficiency in and around the water

  6. Students will be able to successfully participate in all classes
