  1. Michael Pullin updated the committee on CUNY’s push to allow for credit for prior learning. This would be accomplished in numerous ways including standardized exams, evaluating course work, evaluation certificates awarded, etc. It was mentioned that the most realistic way of accomplishing this is with the evaluating certificates route. The office of continuing education offers many programs that lead to stackable credentials I.e. EMT, CPR, phlebotomy, EKG, etc. that would fit into this model. Michael Pullin stated he would investigate what other CUNY colleges are doing regarding this initiative.

  1. Ellen Hartigan gave an update on the continuing education department. Ellen discussed the continuing education department options being evaluated for credit for prior learning.
  2. Daniel Armstrong discussed the model of hybrid courses the college has offered in the past where CEWD students and college credited students sit for the same courses together and how this may be a good feed into some of our programs like medical office assistant.
  3. Alison Cimino discussed how the CEWD website was hard to find on the QCC website.
  4. Allison Cimino gave an update on the USF John Jay Justice of Opportunity Thrive Technical Assistance Scholarship to provide training on serving justice impacted students. The next date scheduled is March 31, 2023. Alison will send a flyer to the committee.
  5. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 1 PM

Respectfully submitted,
