VA Student Responsibilities
We highly encourage you to stay up-to-date on changes or modifications to your benefits by monitoring the GI Bill/VA® website or by contacting the VA directly at 1-888-GIBILL-1.
To avoid any issues regarding debt to the school or the Department of Veterans Affairs, and to ensure maximum utilization of your educational benefits please review the list of student responsibilities below.

Ensure that each class that you take is a course within your curriculum/area of study here at Queensborough

Register for full-time status, 12 or more credits, during the Fall and Spring semesters

Report any change (drop/add) in your schedule or reduction of credit hours as soon as possible to the Office of Military and Veterans Services

Report a change in program/major as soon as possible to the Office of Military and Veterans Services

Provide the Office of Military and Veterans Services with a copy of your schedule for certification before the start of the term

As a student at Queensborough you acknowledge your responsibility to pay any remaining portions of your tuition/fees before the end of each term (if applicable) should there be any remaining balance on your student account

As a student at Queensborough you understand that if you do not attend, or stop attending a class your VA benefit certification may be adjusted, meaning that you, the student, may incur a debt from the school, Department of Veterans Affairs, or both agencies

Current students are required to submit a certification request form for review and processing. A certification request should be submitted at least four weeks prior to the start of the term.
Chapt. 30, 1606, and 1607 students also need to verify their monthly attendance through the VA
Dependents and Spouses
As an office we recognize that Veteran/Military dependents, though not considered Veterans themselves, often help and support the Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman, or Coastguardsman during their service commitment. To assist you during your transition into our college community please find the following resources below outlining different services from the Office of Military and Veterans Services, to include other areas. Queensborough Community College and its agents including third party lead generators, marketing firms, or companies that own or operate the educational institutions will:
- Ban inducements, including any gratuity, favor, discount, entertainment, hospitality, loan, transportation, lodging, meals, or other item having a monetary value of more than a de minimis amount, to any individual or entity, or its agents including third party lead generators or marketing firms other than salaries paid to employees or fees paid to cont5ractors in conformity with all applicable laws for the purpose of securing enrollments of Service members or obtaining access to Military Tuition Assistance (TA) funds. Educational institution sponsored scholarships or grants and tuition reductions available to military students are permissible, and;
- Refrain from providing any commission, bonus, or other incentive payment based directly or indirectly on securing enrollments or federal financial aid (including TA funds) to any persons or entities engaged in any student recruiting, admission activities, or making decisions regarding the award of student financial assistance, and;
- Refrain from high-pressure recruitment tactics such as making multiple unsolicited contacts (3 or more), including contacts by phone, email, or in-person, and engaging in same-day recruitment and registration for the purpose of securing Service member enrollments.
