Humanities Academy

Humanities Academy Logo

As a Queensborough student you will focus your education in one of our eight Queensborough Academies.

The humanities are academic disciplines that study aspects of human society and culture, including history, law, media and cultural studies, ancient and modern languages and literatures, philosophy and religion, and other related fields. (Fine and performing arts are included in the Visual and Performing Arts Academy.) Students interested in studying the humanities should choose the A.A. degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with one of the nine humanities concentrations listed below.

QCC students may choose between A.A. and A.S. degree programs which are designed to prepare you for transfer to a four-year college or university or an A.A.S. degree which are designed to prepare you for immediate entry into the workforce. A.A. and A.S. degree graduates will be able to complete a bachelor’s degree in the same field in an additional two years after transfer. A.A.S. degree graduates may also transfer but may require three years of additional study at the 4-year institution to complete the bachelor’s degree.

Degree maps are available for each degree program on its page below. The maps, which were developed by your faculty members, recommend which courses should be taken each semester to complete the degree program in two years. Your adviser can also help you select courses each semester. We recommend that you meet with your advisor every semester.
