Transfer
Students must schedule an appointment with dance faculty in the first month of your third semester (September for May graduation and February for December graduation). Many students begin discussing transfer plans much earlier and that is advised. You must be on top of audition dates, application deadlines, and audition and application requirements. Faculty will guide you and help you based on what your career desires are into the program that will be the best fit for each individual student. Faculty can help facilitate connections with faculty at programs where students are interested in transferring to.
QCC has had students transfer to Rutgers University (some on dance scholarships), SUNY Brockport, Hofstra University (some on dance scholarships), Long Island University Brooklyn Campus, Montclair State University, Adelphi University (on dance scholarships), Queens College, and Hunter College (both BA in Dance and joint BA/MA in Dance Education). The colleges our students are transferring to continues to expand.
Click the colleges below for links to their audition pages and articulation agreements. Articulation Agreements with Hofstra University’s Dance Education Program is nearly complete as well as with SUNY Brockport’s BFA and BA degrees. We are continuing to build articulation agreements with more colleges. An articulation agreement lays out which courses transfer with equivalency from QCC into the respective program from their curriculum. This allows students to transfer with ease, knowing how their credits will be accounted for and what requirements will have been met when they transfer. The articulation agreements do not guarantee admission into the program. Students must still audition (where applicable) and apply to the institution. Once admitted, the credits are aligned for transfer as outlined in the agreements.
