I am an Assistant Professor of Education/Psychology in the Social Sciences department at Queensborough Community College (QCC). My previous research examined trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in children and adolescence. It has been found that not everyone who experiences a traumatic stressor will develop PTSD. These individuals are sometimes labeled “resilient”. Currently, my research interests include resilience and another related construct - hardiness. Resilience and hardiness have been related to a number of positive outcomes including academic success, college retention, and overall success. I am working with two QCC students to design a study to measure resilience and hardiness in college students.
My scholastic and creative achievements include over 10 conference presentations and papers, a book chapter, a technical manual, and several published journal articles.
In addition to teaching, I am a mentor to Education students, I am a member of the Social Science Department Honors Committee, and I am collaborating on research projects with faculty members from other disciplines.
