Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM)
QCC Celebrates Women’s History Month!
Throughout March, Queensborough will celebrate Women's History Month with a series of engaging events ;highlighting the groundbreaking roles that women scientists play in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
As a leader in community college higher education, Queensborough is renowned for the number of students it engages in undergraduate research across the academic disciplines, and STEAM is an initiative designed to further female student interest in academic areas traditionally dominated by men.
To help turn this around, Dr. Kimberly Riegel, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, and Chair of the Student Activities Committee, has spearheaded this special Women's History Month Initiative.
“My mission is to help further create an atmosphere of inclusion for women and all underrepresented populations to pursue their interest in the sciences. So many wonderful research opportunities exist at Queensborough and these events are an ideal way to inspire new interest in fields not otherwise explored.”
Upcoming events begin on March 4!
